Q: Who are the members of your band, and what instruments do they play?

A: Amanda L. Nygard (Amanda Standalone) – vocals, guitar, fiddle, washtub bass, banjo and mandolin

Abby Swegarden – vocals, guitar

Minda Ringdahl – vocals, tambourine, dinger

Q: How long has the band been active?

A: 5 years

Q: Where, and how, was the band formed? How did you come up with the band’s name?

A: The band was formed in Fargo. We all met at Nichole’s Fine Pastry – all three of us worked there at the time. Minda and Abby still do, hence the Pastryshop girls. Amanda plays with her jug band, and she also does a lot of solo work. Hence the first part of our name, Amanda Standalone.

Q: What kind of music does the band play? How would you describe its sound?

A: We play a large amount of Amanda’s original material as well as some significant public domain covers. We sing in three part harmony, which lends itself well to old folk and gospel tunes – it’s a very comforting, familiar sound.
