Q: Who are the members of your band, and what instruments do they play?
A: Todd Reisenauer (guitar)
Justin Seng (bass)
Troy Reisenauer (guitar)
Phil Hunt (vocals)
Jeremy Tomlinson (drums)
Q: How long has the band been active?
A: For about 13 and 1/2 years.
Q: Where, and how, was the band formed? How did you come up with the band’s name?
A: We formed in Fargo with Troy, Justin, Phil, Todd and our founding drummer, Mike Grove. We are all friends and we grew up on Ramones, New York Dolls and raunchier punk records that appeared on labels like Crypt Records, Estrus and the like. A gentleman by the name of Preston Olson gave us the band name one late night at Ralph’s. I told him that we were starting a band but we were having trouble agreeing on a name. Preston said (in a fake French accent, if I recall correctly), how about Les Dirty Frenchmen? I asked him if we could use it and he said yes.
Q: What kind of music does the band play? How would you describe its sound?
A: Old-school punk rock is probably the best way to describe it. We love the Ramones, Devil Dogs, New York Dolls, etc. but we’re a little more abrasive, raw and undisciplined. We draw a lot of inspiration from ‘90s garage punk favorites like New Bomb Turks, Teengenerate and Oblivians along with the “Killed By Death” punk bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s. We don’t necessarily sound like any of them though.
